Lance O’Connor is a photographer whose work is rooted in curiosity, resilience, and a lifelong drive to see the world beyond where he began.
Raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland during a challenging period, Lance turned to photography as a way forward. With dyslexia making traditional academic paths difficult, he gravitated toward the arts, drawn by the freedom of visual storytelling. To buy his first camera, a Pentax ME Super, he worked in his grandfather’s slaughterhouse, saving every spare pound. That moment sparked a journey that would shape his life and career.
Lance began formally studying photography at the University of Ulster before attending Bournemouth University, where he refined both his technical skill and creative voice. His passion for visual storytelling later expanded into motion, leading him to pursue a Master of Arts at the Royal College of Art, London.
Today, Lance’s work bridges photography and film, blending documentary sensitivity with cinematic composition.
